DE BEERS GROUP AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF BOTSWANA EXTEND PARTNERSHIP WITH OLYMPIC CHAMPION LETSILE TEBOGO AS GLOBAL AMBASSADOR
The campaign will run through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and highlight natural diamonds’ role in Botswana’s long-term prosperity, De Beers said.
On Thursday, De Beers Group and the Government of the Republic of Botswana announced the extension of their partnership with Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo into a three-year program anchored by a global campaign platform.
The partnership, which began in 2025 when Tebogo was named a De Beers Global ambassador, aligns with Botswana's Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years of independence and promoting the African nation as a heartland of natural diamonds.
Winning the 200 metres at the 2024 Olympics, Tebogo became the first African athlete to claim gold in the event, establishing himself as a leading force on the international circuit after being named World Athletics Men's Athlete of the Year in 2024.
Anchored by a global platform themed "The Road to LA28", the campaign follows Tebogo's journey as he prepares for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, exploring the dedication and support systems behind elite performance.
Natural diamonds continue to drive long-term prosperity in Botswana, supporting education and infrastructure across the nation, as De Beers Group integrates these efforts into its "Building Forever" sustainability strategy committed to meaningful impact.
