- Democratic U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand questioned whether administration cuts to food-safety surveillance weakened the government's response. She stated these cuts created "dangerous blind spots" and demanded a plan from federal agencies by July 31.
- Health officials recommend consumers purchase whole heads of lettuce instead of pre-washed bags to reduce contamination risks. Cooking greens to at least 158 F is the safest option, as the cyclospora parasite resists routine chemical disinfection.
