George Michael Auction Threatened by Explosive Family Row
Her brother says the sale would have been against her wishes and notes the collection could fetch more than £200,000.
On Thursday, George Michael's memorabilia auction sparked a family row after his late personal assistant Siobhan Bailey's collection went under the hammer, with her family attempting to halt the sale.
Siobhan Bailey died in 2014 without a registered will, causing her memorabilia collection to pass to her estranged husband, Ian Belcher, who decided to auction the items.
Gerard Bailey told the BBC his sister would be "horrified at the prospect of the auction being held in her name," calling the sale "disingenuous" and "wholly unethical."
Sworders auctioneers stated the legal title of the collection is not in question despite family disputes, declining further comment on requests to halt the sale.
The 32-item collection, featuring a Gretsch Synchromatic guitar estimated between £60,000 and £120,000, is expected to fetch more than £200,000 total from Bailey's 20-year archive with Michael.
