The Cook County Board of Commissioners and the Justice Advisory Council joined together Wednesday on Chicago's South Side to announce a funding initiative for community violence intervention programs.
Cook County awards $5M to violence prevention groups, $15M more coming in July
Cook County is awarding $5 million to nine community organizations for violence intervention programs and opening applications for an additional $15 million in grants as gun homicides continue to decline across the county.
