Commanders Receiver Jaylin Lane Has a Fractured and Dislocated Left Ankle, AP Source Says
Tests confirmed a fractured, dislocated ankle, and Ian Rapoport reported Jaylin Lane is likely done for the season.
On Sunday in London, Washington Commanders wide receiver Jaylin Lane suffered a fractured and dislocated left ankle during the team's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Reports indicate the injury will likely end his 2026 season.
Already dealing with a string of injuries, the Commanders entered the matchup without starting quarterback Jayden Daniels and left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Their absence compounded offensive challenges before Lane's injury.
Lane sustained the injury on a kickoff return during the third quarter and was carted off the field. A person familiar with the situation confirmed the fractured and dislocated ankle diagnosis Monday on condition of anonymity.
Starting quarterback Marcus Mariota also exited the game with a knee injury, leaving rookie Athan Kaliakmanis to take over. The Commanders listed Mariota as "questionable to return."
The Commanders could get Daniels back as soon as this weekend when hosting the New York Giants. His potential return offers relief for an offense now depleted by multiple injuries.
