City-Run Vancouver Island Clinic Welcomes Fourth Doctor From Newfoundland
The clinic can now serve 3,750 residents as Colwood seeks a larger space and a path toward eight doctors.
Dr. Swathi Ravinuthala joined the Colwood Clinic this summer as its fourth family physician, expanding the municipal-run clinic's capacity to serve the growing community.
Ravinuthala studied medicine at the Medical University of Lublin in Poland and was drawn to the clinic's patient-centered model focused on solving primary care accessibility issues.
With the addition of Ravinuthala, the clinic now has capacity to serve 5,000 Colwood residents; those seeking a family doctor should register with the Health Connect Registry.
The clinic is quickly outgrowing its current leased space in the Royal Bay Commons, a situation Mayor Doug Kobayashi described in July as a "good problem to have."
Colwood is exploring partnerships to establish a larger clinic facility, seeking proposals from development partners to plan, design, and deliver a new primary care medical clinic.
