Father Arrested, 14-Year-Old Daughter Rescued by Mexican Authorities in California Incest Case
Authorities say the father faces felony sexual abuse charges and the teen has been identified as a victim, not charged in the newborn’s death.

- Investigators began searching for the pair following the August 1 discovery of a newborn, dubbed by law enforcement "Baby Angelita," in the 100 block of Struve Road. Authorities allege Perez sexually abused and impregnated his daughter when she was 13.
- Monterey County prosecutors charged Perez with three felony counts, including incest and lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14. The girl's 36-year-old mother, Ofelia Garcia Ortega, was previously arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment.
- According to Sheriff Tina Nieto, Diana remains in the care of local authorities in Mexico. During the rescue, officials found Perez in possession of narcotics.
- The Monterey County District Attorney's Office stated the teenager is a "victim of her father's abuse," noting that "no child should ever have to endure such horrific circumstances." Officials will provide further details at a future news conference.
