Bucks Move Their Oct. 23 Home Opener with Bulls to Afternoon to Avoid World Series Conflict
The team thanked the NBA for the change as Milwaukee celebrates the Brewers’ first World Series berth in 44 years.
The Milwaukee Bucks announced Friday that their Oct. 23 home opener against the Chicago Bulls will tip off at 3 p.m. Central instead of 7 p.m. to avoid conflicting with Game 1 of the World Series.
Following a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, the Milwaukee Brewers clinched their first World Series appearance in 44 years on Thursday and will host the Fall Classic opener at American Family Insurance Field.
In a statement, the Bucks called the Brewers' return 'a special moment for Milwaukee' and thanked the NBA for facilitating the schedule change to accommodate this historic occasion.
The original 7 p.m. tipoff would have occurred simultaneously with the first pitch of the Fall Classic; moving the game to 3 p.m. Central ensures fans can watch both events without choosing.
A potential conflict looms on Oct. 31, when the Bucks are slated to host the Cleveland Cavaliers on the same night as a potential Game 7 of the World Series in Milwaukee.
