BCE Sells 49.9 per Cent Stake in New Wireless Tower Company to La Caisse for $2.45B
Bell will use the proceeds to cut debt and fund data centers after valuing the tower unit at $4.9 billion, the company said.
On Tuesday, BCE Inc. announced its subsidiary Bell Canada is selling a 49.9% stake in a new wireless tower entity, TowerCo, to investment group La Caisse for $2.45 billion.
BCE CEO Mirko Bibic stated the transaction strengthens the balance sheet, helping Bell reach a 3.5x debt-to-EBITDA ratio by 2027 while funding growth in AI-powered solutions.
Headquartered in Montreal, TowerCo will be led by CEO J. Bruce Furlong, managing more than 5,000 wireless sites across Canada and leasing capacity back to Bell.
Valued at approximately $4.91 billion, the deal mirrors infrastructure strategies used by competitors Rogers Communications Inc. and Telus Corp., which have previously raised billions through similar tower sales.
Pending regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, with Caisse infrastructure head Emmanuel Jaclot noting the platform aims to attract additional tenants.
