Agriculture Minister Jaimi van Essen's (D66) nitrogen plans have come as a bombshell to the agricultural sector. On Thursday evening, Drenthe farmers were briefed during a special information session. The turnout was massive.
Because of the drought, some farmers have a yield loss of over 40 percent, says Josef Moosbrugger, President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture. Prices are already rising on the stock exchanges.
