For Austria, the latest available Eurostat figures for 2024 show that women earned on average 17.6 per cent less than men in terms of gross hourly wages.
The transposition deadline for the EU pay transparency directive is still waiting for us. Although a draft of Minister of Social Affairs Schumann is available, there is no agreement between ÖVP and Neos.
No rapid agreement in sight
One hundred days ago, on Tuesday, the deadline for the transposition of the EU pay transparency directive into Austrian law expired. A draft by social minister Klaudia Schumann (SPÖ) is available, but the agreement of the two coalition partners ÖVP and NEOS is still lacking. So far, there is no rapid agreement. Criticism of the blockade comes from the opposition.
