More than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories will compete across 10 sports and six Para sports.
The first athletes for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games arrived at Glasgow Airport on Tuesday, July 21, receiving a warm Scottish welcome ahead of the opening ceremony this Thursday.
More than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories will compete across 10 sports and six Para sports, with volunteers and Finnie, the official mascot, greeting arriving teams.
Debutants Christa Cain, Regan Corrin, and Jack Kinrade joined experienced competitors Ollie Lockley and David Mullarkey in the Isle of Man squad.
Regeneration efforts, including new housing in the East End, have transformed the city since 2014, with Glasgow City Council's Mr Gray noting the area is now on a good path.
Fans can watch the action at four venues across the city, with Channel 5 broadcasting the opening ceremony live and providing extensive highlights throughout the competition.
