A's Shea Langeliers, Mark Leiter Jr. to have season-ending surgeries this week
Athletics All-Star catcher Shea Langeliers will have season-ending surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee on Tuesday.
Right-Handed pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. will also have season-ending surgery to repair a right hip impingement this week.
Before his injury, Langeliers was hitting.263 with 23 home runs and 51 RBIs in 93 games and was the first A's catcher to start an All-Star Game since 1989.
Leiter had a 0.50 ERA in his last 18 games but is 0-1 with a 4.28 ERA and four saves overall this season.
