Former Energy Minister PSD Bogdan Ivan says on Tuesday that diesel prices have gone crazy and are rising from one day to the next and, in some cases, even from one hour to another, at the same gas station, he asking the Prime Minister and the Energy Minister to intervene immediately, and the Ministry of Finance, ANAF and the Competition Council must urgently check how these prices are formed and whether we are witnessing speculative increases.
Fuel prices have risen again, despite the reduction in excise duty on diesel. Former Energy Minister Răzvan Nicolescu explained to Digi24 that the price evolution is mainly influenced by international quotations, which are transmitted to the pump with a delay of approximately eight to nine days, but also by taxes and companies' profit margins.
The price of the diesel has risen again to more than 10 lei/litre, shortly after the reduction of the excise duty by 20%. Although the law provided for the costing, the effect has not applied to old stocks, and experts warn that the price should be 1.5 lei lower, compared to international quotations.
