Tiny Urn Containing ‘Human Ashes’ Lost on Train Between London and Aberdeen
Police say the small red urn may contain human ashes and could have been lost up to four months ago.
British Transport Police officers in Aberdeen are attempting to locate the owner of a small urn believed to contain human ashes, discovered on a train service between London and Aberdeen.
The item was likely left on an LNER service traveling from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen, then handed into lost property and held by ScotRail for approximately four months.
Wrapped in artificial purple and white flowers and cradled by a small brown teddy bear, BTP officer Police Constable Gary Herning noted the urn likely holds "enormous sentimental value."
Officers are issuing a public appeal hoping the family will reach out, as Herning stated they have "no further information" regarding where the owner boarded or alighted during the journey.
Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP using reference 2600110174, or call 0800 40 50 40, with anonymous tips accepted by Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
