Anna Huang on the upswing heading into CPKC Women’s Open in Edmonton
The 17-year-old Vancouver golfer arrives with four Ladies European Tour titles and her father back on the bag after a sponsor exemption.
On Tuesday, Vancouver teenager Anna Huang prepares for the CPKC Women's Open in Edmonton, arriving less than 48 hours after her historic PIF London Championship victory on the Ladies European Tour.
Huang enters this year's tournament with improved confidence after overcoming rookie-season struggles; on-course difficulties and loneliness previously made her question her career choice.
At 17 years, 9 months, and 10 days, Huang became the youngest player to win four Ladies European Tour titles, surpassing the previous record held by New Zealand's Lydia Ko.
Upon arriving in Alberta, Huang was surprised by local fans who recognized her after watching her final round on TV; her father Alex will caddie for her at Royal Mayfair Golf Club.
Golf Canada's NextGen coach Jeff MacDonald said this emerging group is "doing things that have not been done before," with young Canadians like Clairey Lin and Eileen Park also earning sponsor exemptions.
