‘American Idol’: What Happened to Taylor Hicks? His Life 20 Years After Winning
ABC will celebrate the two-decade milestone with fan-favorite Idols from the class of 2006, and Hicks posted that “big” news is coming soon.
Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks will return to American Idol for the upcoming "20th high school reunion" episode airing May 4, featuring fan-favorite Idols from the class of 2006 and special guests.
It has been 20 years since Hicks secured his victory on American Idol, defeating runner-up Katharine McPhee, and he has continued releasing music and performing live throughout his career.
Currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Hicks focuses on live performances in the area; his most recent song, "Porch Swing," released in 2023, reflects his continued dedication to music.
Beyond his music career, Hicks co-owns SAW Juke Joint in Birmingham, Alabama, a barbecue restaurant he opened with creator Mike Wilson in 2012.
Earlier this year, Hicks publicly flirted with fellow American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson after she revealed she never received a Mustang promised for her win, offering to help her find a new vehicle.
