Serbian Media Outlets’ Management Change Sparks Suspicion Ahead of Elections
A new director has taken charge of some of the few independently-oriented media outlets in Serbia, including N1 TV, raising fears in a politically-charged environment that critical voices might be sidelined ahead of upcoming elections.
Investment fund Alpac Capital acquires regional group Adria News Network; in Serbia, directors of media outlets N1, TV Nova, Nova.rs, Radar and Danas have been dismissed.
The Journalists' Association of Slovenia is following with concern the developments related to the sale of the United Group news media, which includes N1 Slovenija, to the investment fund Alpac Capital. The latter is reportedly already preparing personnel and editorial changes.
The newspaper Danas, N1, Nova and Radar all got a new joint director, because the owner of the company Alpak Capital is Pedro Vargas Santos David and officially registered in the Agency for Commercial Registers (APR).
Alpac Capital, namely Pedro Vargas Santos David, also took over media in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
After the management of the media from the United Group was taken over by the international investment group Alpac Capital, Katja Šeruga was dismissed from her position as director of Adria News Production Slovenia today, the Slovenian Press Agency has learned unofficially. Šeruga is still working as the editor of the N1 Slovenija portal.
