Alberta government launches $4M ad campaign ahead of fall separation referendum
The $4-million ad push will run online, on TV and radio, and on billboards as Alberta leaders seek support for the referendum.
The Alberta government launched a $4-million advertising campaign urging citizens to vote to remain in Canada in next month's referendum, aiming to inform voters ahead of the October 19 vote.
Voters will face nine referendum questions regarding immigration and constitutional issues, plus a final inquiry asking whether the province should remain in the country or pursue a second, binding referendum on separation.
To support the effort to keep the country together, Premier Danielle Smith said it is "time to put the issue to rest." The campaign will advertise across television, radio, online platforms, and billboards.
Interest remains high, with around 225,000 mail-in ballots requested by residents. The Alberta Business Council has urged residents to "choose Canada" ahead of the referendum vote.
The October 19 outcome will determine the province's political trajectory and its relationship with the Federal government, as the vote represents a defining moment for the constitutional future.
