AI polling: Americans aren't as divided on declaration of American ideals

On Thursday, the Napolitan Institute released a 'Declaration' of 27 shared American ideals based on an extensive AI-powered survey conducted ahead of America's 250th birthday.
More than 2,400 participants across all 435 congressional districts responded to online prompts about freedom and equality. Napolitan partnered with Google incubator Jigsaw to synthesize results using AI-generated models.
Most summary statements achieved over 80% agreement from participants. One ideal derived from Martin Luther King Jr. stating 'We should be judged by the content of our character, not by the color of our skin' had opposition in no congressional district.
Speaking at the American Philosophical Society, Rasmussen challenged the 50-50 polarization narrative, saying participants initially skeptical of common ground were 'shocked at how much common ground they found on different topics.'
Spencer Baim, head of brand, creative and marketing for Jigsaw, emphasized the initiative's goal of helping people have better conversations in a divided world. Some questioned whether consensus would hold on divisive topics like gun control and immigration.
