The head of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has called on member states to stop activities that endanger merchant ships and seafarers, at a time of rising geopolitical tensions. Addressing the Subcommittee of the Cargo and Container Transport Organization, IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez warned of the serious consequences of geopolitical tensions for the maritime industry....
In front of the delegates, he warned against the heavy impact of geopolitical tensions on maritime transport. "We come to a point where these conflicts are used as a pretext to attack innocent merchant ships and sailors," he said, lamenting a black year for the sector.
