After ‘AI bots’ swamp Raye’s London show sign-up, Sam Fender delays UK homecoming presale over ‘sophisticated bot attack’
On Wednesday, October 28, Sam Fender delayed the presale for his 2027 homecoming shows at Newcastle's St James' Park; the concerts are part of his Proper Massive Stadium Tour, scheduled for June 3, 2027.
Ticketing platform Gigantic suffered a 'sophisticated bot attack' Wednesday morning, blocking fans from securing seats for the Newcastle dates as Fender intervened after fans reported being kicked out of the website.
After recently intervening to lower ticket prices and removing a premium 'front standing' option priced up to £130, Fender vowed to ensure fair access, labeling the fees 'bulls***' on social media.
The Newcastle presale is now rescheduled to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, to ensure 'real fans get the tickets,' with general sale remaining scheduled for Friday, October 30, at 9:30 a.m.
Artists including RAYE and Garth Brooks faced similar bot disruptions recently as the music industry grapples with automated threats; the UK announced plans last year to make reselling tickets above face value illegal.
