Beloved TV Show Disappears From Screens After 36 Years in Major Schedule Shake-Up
The move follows Disney’s exclusive rights deal for new episodes, while Sky customers with Ultimate TV can still stream the show on Disney+.
Starting November 1, 2026, Sky will stop broadcasting The Simpsons, ending a 36-year partnership with the animated series in the UK.
Sky previously lost rights to new episodes to Disney Plus in 2023; Sky One continued airing older seasons 34 and 35 until recently, which predated the E4 deal.
Blogger Wesley Mead identified this as the first broadcast break since the early 1990s, noting the series is missing from programming listings and suggesting the change could be permanent.
Sky has replaced the animated sitcom with episodes of Animal Control, Best Medicine, and Superstore, while Ultimate TV package customers retain access through Disney Plus.
While the future of the broadcast remains unclear, the show recently brought back character Apu in Treehouse of Horror Presents: The Revengening, signaling ongoing creative development.
