Affidavit: Man arrested, accused of possessing thousands of child sexual abuse material
Investigators say cyber tips and a phone search linked Jared Austin Hegwer to more than 2,300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
On Tuesday, San Antonio police detectives arrested Jared Austin Hegwer at a home in the 200 block of Gayle Avenue after investigators linked multiple online accounts to him through CyberTipline reports.
Homeland Security Investigations launched the inquiry after reports indicated an online service provider had detected files containing child sexual abuse material, tracing the activity to Hegwer's residence.
According to the arrest report, investigators seized a cellphone containing more than 2,300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material; digital evidence from Hegwer's Kik account further identified him.
Following arrest, records indicate Hegwer was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, where he remains held on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation involved federal and local authorities using multiple search warrants and subpoenas to trace accounts, which contained photos Hegwer had taken of himself, to his residence.
