A wildfire has sparked south of La Casa
BC Wildfire Service says the blaze has grown to 2 hectares and sits between two other fires that have prompted evacuation orders and alerts.
- On the evening of Aug 1, 2026, a human-caused wildfire sparked on Westside Road near La Casa. BC Wildfire Service reported the blaze has grown to two hectares.
- Compounding the regional wildfire situation, this new fire sits between the Blue Grouse Creek and Bradley Creek wildfires, which have already forced multiple evacuation orders and alerts north and south of Fintry.
- Evacuation orders were issued by The Central Okanagan Regional District for properties including 5455 and 5495 Deighton Road, plus 5875, 6409, 6421, 6433, 6445, 6457, 6469, 6481, and 6493 Westside Road; residents must leave immediately.
- Responding to the incident, The North Westside Fire Department and BC Wildfire Service deployed night vision support, while Emergency Support Services opened at the Westbank Lions Centre for displaced residents.
- Westside Road remains closed northbound due to the Bradley Creek wildfire, forcing evacuees south toward West Kelowna. Residents near La Casa should remain prepared to leave at any time as conditions evolve.
