5-Star F Malachi Jordan Commits to St. John’s
Malachi Jordan chose St. John’s over Kansas and Vanderbilt, giving Rick Pitino the program’s highest-ranked recruit since 2023, ESPN reported.
On Tuesday, five-star forward Malachi Jordan committed to St. John's, becoming head coach Rick Pitino's highest-ranked recruit since taking over the Red Storm in March 2023.
Pitino, who previously prioritized the transfer portal, shifted his recruiting strategy toward high school prospects after St. John's entered Jordan's recruitment late a few weeks ago.
Ranked No. 20 nationally in the Class of 2027, the 6-foot-6 wing from Prolific Prep averaged 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks recently. "Coach Pitino has a rich history of developing players," Jordan said.
Securing the commitment over finalists Kansas Jayhawks, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Tennessee Volunteers marks a significant victory; Jordan becomes the program's first top-25 recruit since Rysheed Jordan in 2013.
The Red Storm landed Jordan as their first commitment in the 2027 class, marking the program's first ranked commitment since Jaiden Glover joined in 2024.
