North Stars Add Forward Brody Guiltner as the 2026-27 Season Looms
Each team will play 48 regular-season games as exhibition play starts Aug. 21 and the league adjusts for venue changes and scheduling conflicts.
- The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League released its 2026-27 schedule on Wednesday, with the regular season officially opening Sept. 4. League chair Shawn Vincent noted the scheduling team overcame several unique challenges to finalize the slate.
- Opening night on Sept. 4 features three games across the league, including defending playoff champion Victoria Cougars visiting Saanich Predators. Officials addressed scheduling hurdles, including the Nanaimo Buccaneers moving regular home games from Thursdays to Fridays.
- Hosting the Port Alberni Bombers on Sept. 5, the Oceanside Generals will officially begin their campaign. Before the regular season, the team plays three exhibition matches, starting with an away game against the Nanaimo Buccaneers on Friday, Aug. 28.
- Top teams in each division will advance to best-of-seven series under the unchanged playoff format. Victoria Cougars will play home games at multiple venues while renovations continue at Archie Browning Arena in Esquimalt.
- Each team will play a 48-game regular season running through Feb. 28, 2027. Vincent said, "The 2026-2027 season will be one of the best in the history of the league.
