25 Years Later, Sooke Teen’s Disappearance Remains Unsolved
Police say foul play could not be ruled out after an extensive land, air and water search failed to find the 17-year-old.
Twenty-Five years after 17-year-old Jesokah Adkens vanished while waiting for a bus in Sooke on September 26, 2001, her disappearance remains unsolved.
On the afternoon of September 26, Adkens visited a friend before leaving shortly after 9 p.m. to walk to a bus stop near Sooke Road and Idlemore Road, where she was last seen about half an hour later.
Her father, Clayten, said she would not have left voluntarily without her puppy; police launched an extensive search by land, air, and water, including beneath the Sooke River Bridge.
Sooke RCMP and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit investigated the case, noting foul play could not be ruled out, while a memorial remains near the bus stop where Adkens was last seen.
Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers continues appealing for information about the cold case; anyone with details is asked to contact Sooke RCMP or the organization anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
