The Sardinia Rally this weekend closes a five-year chapter in the World Rally Championship. Rally1 brought the fastest and most technologically advanced rally cars ever, first with hybrid power and around 500 horsepower, then without it, but still with exceptional performance. From 2027, the FIA, in a bid to reduce costs and increase competition, will place the top class of world rallying on a much different foundation, linked to Rally2 cars.
The FIA confirmed that the cars in the Rally1 category will have more power from 2027, with the aim of removing them from the squad of the cars of the second ladder (Rally2).
