While the delay of the law against imported deforestation by one year was approved in mid-November at the European Parliament, the Member States voted on Wednesday 20 November against the relaxation of the text supported by the right and the extreme right.

Today, the member states once again supported the one-year postponement of the start of the implementation of the EU regulation on deforestation adopted last year. They only support the postponement, but not the substantive changes of the regulation, which was advocated by the European Parliament last week. The start of negotiations between the Council of the EU and the European Parliament is scheduled for Thursday.

Države članice so danes znova podprle enoletno preložitev začetka izvajanja lani sprejete uredbe EU o krčenju gozdov. Podpirajo zgolj preložitev, ne pa tudi vsebinskih sprememb uredbe, za kar se je pretekli teden zavzel Evropski parlament. Začetek pogajanj med Svetom EU in Evropskim parlamentom je predviden v četrtek.
