Urban garden in Rio feeds hundreds of families in former ‘crackland’

The Manguinhos neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro has been transformed into a community vegetable garden. The urban garden covers the area of four soccer fields, making it one of the largest of its kind in Latin America. The project has now expanded to 49 vegetable gardens across Rio, according to agronomist Julio Cesar Barros.
