The U.S. envoy to the U.N. has called Sudan the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with more than half of the country’s population needing assistance.

With the exception of Russia, all members of the Council voted in favour of the resolution. Since the fighting began in April, over ten million people have fled Sudan.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Thursday that calls for the paramilitary Rapid Security Forces (RSF) in Sudan to halt their siege on El Fasher, capital of North Darfur state.

The UN Security Council has passed a resolution calling on rival forces in Sudan to end the siege of the city of Al-Fashir.
