UN Adds Israeli Entities to Blacklist of Countries that Commit Sexual Violence
The United Nations is expected to add the Israel Prison Service to its blacklist of parties accused of sexual violence, placing Israel alongside Hamas and other terror organizations.
Secretary General Antonio Guterres placed Israel "on notice" in August 2025 citing "significant concerns," though Israeli officials argue the move reflects political pressure after they provided detailed responses to allegations.
The move follows a controversial New York Times op-ed by Nicholas Kristof alleging abuse patterns, which The Foreign Ministry denounced as "one of the worst blood libels ever to appear in the modern press."
Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon condemned the decision as a "moral disgrace," announcing Israel will freeze relations with Secretary General Guterres's office until a "professional and fair" successor takes office.
Officials contrasted the UN's stance with the Civil Commission's "Silenced No More" report on Hamas atrocities, arguing that comparing the two parties is "highly offensive and misleading.
Because of massive accusations of mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners, the Israeli prison is included on a black list of Uno, and the terrorist organization Hamas is also on the same list.
