Two teenagers who allegedly wanted to emulate Southport killer have been arrested
Two teenagers aged 16 and 17 were arrested for plotting attacks on a dance school and concerts, inspired by the Southport killer’s 2024 stabbing spree.
- Recently, TWO teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were arrested in separate copycat cases after allegedly planning to attack a dance school, emulating Southport killer Axel Rudakubana.
- Southport killer Axel Rudakubana's July 29 attack last year killed Bebe King, six; Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven; and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, at the Hart Space Taylor Swift-themed event; he received a minimum 52-year sentence.
- The first youth, 17, researched large knives, saved a 'places to attack' note with images of a dance school, and planned to target an Oasis concert; the Merseyside youth allegedly planned a Taylor Swift-themed attack and downloaded the same al-Qaeda manual.
- Neither teenager faces terror charges, prosecutors say the pair were charged with minor offences while the second youth faces terrorism-related counts and is due to enter pleas next month.
- Amid rising Prevent referrals with no ideology, the inquiry concluded on Friday, revealing only 7% received intervention despite over 11,000 dance schools in the UK and fears of attacks on young girls.
