September 17, 2025, foreign news agencies reported that Fukuoka prefectural police reported that they had arrested two teenagers on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act by importing for profit by smuggling approximately 14 kilograms of liquid containing dangerous cannabis from Thailand, disguising it as ready-made curry products. The suspects are 16-year-old males who are not students and high school students.
It was learned on the 16th through interviews with investigators that the Fukuoka Prefectural Police arrested two boys on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act for smuggling liquid containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a harmful component derived from cannabis, from Thailand by placing it in a box of instant curry.
