TrumpRx.gov offers cash-price discounts on 43 drugs from major manufacturers to lower U.S. prescription costs, targeting uninsured and cash-paying patients, White House said.
- At 7 p.m. Thursday, President Donald Trump, joined by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Joe Gebbia, unveiled TrumpRx.gov, a government-hosted site to buy discounted prescription drugs directly from manufacturers.
- After teasing the plan in September, the administration secured agreements with at least 16 drug manufacturers, including Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, under the Most Favored Nations pricing policy.
- Purchases on TrumpRx will require cash and not accept insurance, launching with over 40 drugs including Ozempic and Wegovy, with prices like Ozempic at $350 and Reyataz cut to $217, the White House said.
- Uninsured patients stand to gain the most from TrumpRx, but Juliette Cubanski, KFF expert, warned insured patients may pay more and purchases won’t count toward deductibles.
- The rollout follows earlier delays from a planned late-January release and arrives amid affordability concerns ahead of midterm elections, reflecting a trend toward direct-to-patient GLP-1 drug sales.
