SNCF's low cost subsidiary plans to launch this line in 2027. With a five-hour journey time, it hopes to attract passengers who are travelling today with Air France or easyJet.
The SNCF announced on Thursday the opening in 2027 of a daily TGV link between Lyon and Bordeaux in about five hours. The route will instead avoid the Massif Central and will pass through Massy (Essonne) in Île-de-France. With this new link, the offer of low-cost Ouigo connections of the SNCF will increase by 30% by 2030. - The SNCF announces the opening of a TGV link Lyon-Bordeaux via... l'Île-de-France (Transports).
The objective is to connect Bordeaux to Lyon via Massy TGV train station in Essonne.
A daily Ouigo link will also be launched between Paris and Hendaye, via Bordeaux, Dax, Bayonne, and Biarritz from 14 December.
On this line, stops are planned at "Massy en Ile-de-France, Saint-Pierre des Corps near Tours, Poitiers and Angoulême", said director Ouigo at SNCF Voyageurs.
SNCF is expanding its long-distance Ouigo offering. The low-cost subsidiary aims to cover 30% of the high-speed market by 2030, with the opening of new key lines like Lyon-Bordeaux as early as 2027.
