Olivia Dean Wins Refunds for Fans After Criticising Ticketmaster
Ticketmaster capped resale prices at face value for Olivia Dean's tour and will refund fans for markups, addressing concerns after less than 20% of primary tickets were resold, the company said.
- On Wednesday, Ticketmaster capped resale prices for Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving tour by activating Face Value Exchange immediately and pledged refunds by Dec. 10.
- Last Friday, Nov. 21, Dean publicly called out Ticketmaster, Live Nation and AEG Presents over high resale prices, urging the industry to `be better` and securing resale caps and refunds from Ticketmaster and AXS.
- A presale glitch listed some tickets at over $700 instead of $53.45 t, while less than 20% of primary tickets were later listed for resale, Ticketmaster said.
- Ticketmaster says it will absorb refund costs for fans who overpaid on its platform, with Rapino praising Dean's stance and stating, `We echo Olivia's call to 'Do Better' and have taken steps to lead by example`.
- At the same time, regulators including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission are scrutinizing Ticketmaster's resale practices amid an FTC lawsuit and CMA findings on platinum and tiered pricing.
