America's Best-Tasting Pizza Chain Is an Old-School Favorite, Survey Finds

Pizza Hut led with 19.1% of respondents, while Domino's followed at 17.1% and 21.6% chose local or regional brands, YouGov said.

  • A YouGov survey of more than 44,000 Americans found Pizza Hut earned 19.1% of votes for best-tasting fast-food pizza, edging out Domino's at 17.1% in the annual ranking conducted between March 2025 and February 2026.
  • Founded in 1958 and 1960, the two brands share similar brick-and-mortar footprints, with Plano, Texas-based Pizza Hut operating nearly 20,000 locations and Ypsilanti, Michigan-based Domino's maintaining more than 22,300 sites worldwide.
  • Older Americans prefer Pizza Hut, while Domino's brand loyalty is strongest in the South and Midwest. "There is likely also a nostalgia factor at play," Kenton Barello, YouGov senior vice president, said.
  • Despite national chain dominance, a notable 21.6% chose "other local or regional brand" over national chains, highlighting the "enduring strength of independent pizzerias," Barello said.
  • Frozen pizza sales reached $7 billion in 2024 as consumers cut back on takeout spending amid rising grocery prices. "Familiarity, emotional connection and consistency continue to play a major role," Barello said.
