Russia Uses Hypersonic Missile in Overnight Attack on Ukraine

- Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated the Oreshnik travels at mach 10 and can destroy deep underground bunkers. This is the third time Russia has deployed the weapon during the four-year war.
- Russia launched 600 strike drones and 90 missiles, with Ukrainian defences intercepting 549 drones and 55 missiles. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported strikes damaged at least 50 locations across Kyiv, including residential buildings and schools.
- At a UN Security Council emergency meeting, Ukrainian Ambassador Andrii Melnyk rejected Moscow's war crimes accusations, calling the session a "pure progaganda show" and said Ukraine's May 22 operations exclusively targeted the Russian war machine.
- The attack highlighted Ukraine's shortage of air defence missiles capable of downing ballistic weapons. Kyiv depends on US-made Patriot systems for interceptions, but interceptor missile stocks remain limited, Zelenskyy noted.
