The government of the Argentine Republic, led by Javier Milei, authorized the purchase of semi-automatic rifles by the civilian population. The authorities of the libertarian government adopted a resolution that lifts the veto imposed since the 1990s.
The resolution was published in the Official Gazette and the old rule prohibiting access to such weapons was amended to replace it with a permit system under strict conditions.
