Small Plane Makes Hard Landing Into New York’s East River, Officials Say
Officials said 10 people were aboard the seaplane, and one passenger suffered minor injuries after the aircraft’s wing strut snapped.
A Kodiak 100 seaplane made a hard landing in the East River near Brooklyn, New York City on Sunday, causing a wing strut to snap during the incident.
Three weeks ago, another seaplane crashed into the East River near Whitestone, Queens, where the New York City Fire Department rescued a pilot and one passenger with no injuries reported.
The FDNY responded to reports of a plane down in the water at 12:01 p.m. off the marina at East 23rd Street and the FDR Drive in Manhattan.
Eight people were removed from the plane by responders, with two passengers evaluated for minor injuries as the New York Police Department and fire units managed the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration will examine the hard landing, while the NYPD confirmed that an investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
