  • On Friday, Benedict Bryant was found guilty of dangerous driving occasioning death at Darlinghurst District Court, with Judge Jane Culver ruling the Crown proved he drove dangerously.
  • Crown prosecutor Phillip Strickland SC told the court Bryant created a 'roadblock' by placing his unmarked car in the trail bike's path without authorisation despite an operator at NSW Police issuing a directive not to pursue.
  • Harrowing CCTV shown in court captured the trail bike travelling about 68km/h in a 40km/h zone as Bryant turned right into the Henderson Rd and Davy Rd intersection without lights or sirens, causing the rider to hit an obstruction and crash into the windscreen.

  • As the court considered consequences, Phillip Strickland SC highlighted that `The accused had relevant information that would allow him to conclude that the rider of the trail bike would go to considerable lengths to avoid capture`.
