SC spared brunt of hurricane season, but experts predict stronger storms in the future

The Atlantic went from July 2 to Sept. 1 without a named storm for the first time since 1941. An average season by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's standard has 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes. A lot of wind shear July through August, plus dry air, that suppressed any potential storms during those months.
