Telangana CM 'Hitler' Remark Triggers Massive Political Row, BJP Slams 'Dangerous Hitler-Emergency Mindset'
Opposition leaders accused the Telangana chief minister of glorifying Hitler after he said he drew inspiration from the Nazi dictator while naming HYDRAA.
On Saturday in Bengaluru, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy faced political backlash after linking the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
Explaining the organization's name, Reddy claimed "Hydra" was Hitler's favorite word, stating he drew inspiration from the Nazi leader while establishing the agency to remove encroachments.
The BJP and Bharat Rashtra Samithi criticized Reddy, labeling him the "new Hitler" and demanding an unconditional apology for the divisive remarks.
Former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called the remarks "shameful," alleging Reddy's "proud veneration of Adolf Hitler" betrayed The Congress's latent "fascist impulses."
The row adds a fresh political dimension to HYDRAA, an agency established to tackle encroachments on government assets, which has already faced judicial scrutiny from the Telangana High Court.
