Queanbeyan-Palerang council election vote count continues

Queanbeyan-Palerang Council elections will continue on Sunday. More than 47 per cent of first-preference votes were counted by 11pm on Saturday. The ALP ticket was in front of first preference votes, with more than 20 per cent. The ticket headed by Kenrick Winchester, who is expected to put his name forward for mayor, has received around 14 per cent so far. Early results showed 3791 above the line votes for Labor, enough for two candidates to be elected. The Liberals have picked up 2957 above theline votes, ensuring Louise Burton is elected.
