Putin grants Russian citizenship to U.S. whistleblower Edward Snowden
Snowden is one of 75 foreign citizens listed as being granted Russian citizenship. He has been living in Russia since 2013 to escape prosecution in the U.S. after leaking classified documents. He currently faces charges in the United States that could result in decades in prison. Snowden's wife, Lindsay Mills, an American who has beenliving with him in Russia, will also be applying for a Russian passport.
