Police raid Srinagar mosques, madrassas in crackdown on ‘terror-linked networks’ after Red Fort blast
Srinagar Police inspected over 300 mosques and madrasas to dismantle terror networks linked to banned Jamaat-e-Islami after the Red Fort blast killed 13, officials said.
- On Thursday, Srinagar Police inspected mosques and madrassas with Executive Magistrates and witnesses, collecting digital devices and documents amid a terror-linked network crackdown.
- Following the November 10 Red Fort blast that left 13 dead, the Union government described it as a `terrorist incident` and intensified checks after November 12 raids at more than 300 locations linked to banned Jamaat-e-Islami.
- Investigators recovered nearly 3,000 kg of explosives-making material from Faridabad, Uttar Pradesh, and the module allegedly included doctors from Al Falah Medical College, while Umar Nabi, doctor , was linked to the blast.
- The blast during forensic sampling left nine killed and 32 injured at Nowgam police station on November 14, with police stressing operations followed legal procedures and transparency assurances.
- Efforts aim to dismantle the `terror support ecosystem` by sustaining multiple rounds of checks across the Kashmir Valley and preventing conspiracies that could disturb peace, police said.
