- On Friday, the Metropolitan Police Department and National Guard cleared a Navy Yard park on Halloween night, directing many juveniles to the Navy Yard Metro Station after disorderly conduct.
- The crowd initially remained peaceful as it grew to several hundred juveniles near First Street and New Jersey Avenue park area, but fights and traffic disruption later prompted MPD intervention.
- Officers arrested five arrestees aged 14 to 18 on charges including possession of a knife and resisting arrest; an MPD sergeant suffered minor injuries, and a video on X captured uniformed personnel chasing people.
- Multiple agencies including Metro Transit Police and United States Capitol Police joined the National Guard to close streets and disperse the group by 11 p.m., Pamela A. Smith said MPD will increase its presence.
- Beginning around 7:30 p.m., First District officers observed several groups converge at the park between First Street and New Jersey Avenue, Southeast, near the Navy Yard Metro Station, and police asked for tips at 202-727-9099 or text 50411.
