Redwood City Police Fatally Shoot Man After Hours-Long Standoff
Jose Reynaldo Lombera, 48, was fatally shot after firing a gun into a sidewalk and pointing a firearm at officers during a standoff, police said.

- Officers responded just after 2:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Hazel Avenue for a report a man fired a gun into the sidewalk, firefighters arrived at the 100 block of Hemlock Avenue at 2:53 p.m., and witnesses reported hearing shots at 3:20 p.m.
- Officers formed a perimeter and used a drone to locate the man, while a contact team with lethal and less-lethal options tried to make contact as the suspect pointed a firearm at them, police said.
- Authorities said the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, and police identified the man as Jose Reynaldo Lombera, 48, of Redwood City.
- The San Mateo County District Attorney's office is handling the investigation as Hemlock Avenue between Madrone and Linden streets remains closed and police warn there is no active threat.
